The following Framework has been designed to support you as you consider your level of AI integration in your course. It is recommended that all SNC courses include an AI syllabus statement. This framework helps you consider not only the statement but the “why” behind your choice along with suggestions for a syllabus statement.

Student AI Course
Designed for SNC students BY an SNC student, this is a helpful start for students wanting to learn more about AI. This self-paced, asynchronous, Canvas Course will walk you through prompt engineering for text and images, have you explore bias, hallucinations, and AI’s messy side, experiment with GenAI for studying and learning, and consider ethics, academic integrity, and the SNC Honor Code. Broken up into five modules, the course provides numerous examples and lets you experiment along the way. If you are just getting started or need a refresher, this is a great introduction.
What are YOU doing?
We know that that there are a lot of ways that assignments are being carefully considered for intentional inclusion or exclusion of AI. The Great Ideas for Teaching (GIFT) Cookbook was designed in 2020 when Covid completely disrupted the educational landscape. The Cookbook (website) was a “gift” to educators – allowing them to share and support one another. With AI being another disruptor to the educational landscape, we encourage you to contribute to the Cookbook and share what you are working on so we can learn from and support one another.
