In the spirit of “ever ancient, ever new,” we believe AI invites both contemplation and action, as we thoughtfully integrate new tools into our teaching while holding fast to to the belief that AI should enhance, not replace, the human relationships at the heart of learning. Guided by the DELTA framework’s principles of Dignity, Embodiment, Love, Transcendence, and Agency, we recognize that authentic education happens through communio – the embodied, relational encounters between faculty, staff, and students that form us as whole persons. We embrace AI not as a substitute for human wisdom, creativity, or connection, but as a tool that, when used with moral responsibility and discernment, can enhance our ability to think critically, problem-solve creatively, and communicate effectively in service to the common good.
